Christmas comes but once a year – and when it does, it is a critical time for retailers. It can make all the difference between a good year and a bad year. So it’s no surprise that so much effort goes into forecasting what the best selling items will be each year.
It’s doubly important in the toys and games sector. Every year there seems to be one special toy that is the “must have” toy of the year. In no particular order we have seen Buzz Lightyear, Tickle-Me-Elmo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Beyblades, Cabbage Patch Kids and Furbies claim the crown in previous years.
Usually most of these toys will enjoy one year at the top of the list. Whilst the majority of these toys are still around today, they aren’t going to be number one this Christmas. Many of them won’t even break into the top twenty.
On the other hand, there are some perennial favorites which are always popular choices every year and have withstood the test of time across generations of kids. Some well known examples, again in no particular order, might be Lego, Monopoly, Scrabble, Cluedo, Barbie, G.I. Joe and train sets. Cetainly, it’s unlikely that any of these will be the number one toy this year – but they will appear in the best selling twenty or thirty toys year after year.

Typically, no more than a few weeks after Christmas, last year’s expensive top toy will become yesterday’s news. The more traditional toys however, will still be used and enjoyed for a long time to come. Many of these toys will even be handed from one generation to the next. Despite the fact that the Zhu Zhu Pets were just released in August of this year, they have become a huge success already. This is partly due to the current economic climate and partly due to the fact that stock levels were excessively high last year. A lot of retailers had to give substantial discounts in order to clear their shelves.
It’s easy to understand the logic behind the decision – but based upon the evidence up to now, the retailers may have misread the mood of consumers. Popular toys such as the Zhu Zhu pets and Mattel’s Mindflex game are flying off the shelves. Demand is much higher than supply and it’s becoming difficult to find these toys in the shops. This is only going to get worse the closer we get to Xmas.
Having realised their error, many retailers are now ordering new stock. However, most toys are made in China today. This means that delivery will include a sea voyage of four weeks or so. Arranging new stocks in time for Christmas might be easier said than done.
As a result of the imbalance between supply and demand, it is now possible to find Zhu Zhu hamsters on eBay for more than $ 150. That’s way higher than the recommended retail price – and these prices could rise higher still as we approach Xmas. It does seem like a high price to pay for a child’s toy which, even if it is the latest craze, is quite likely to be out of fashion in just a few short months.
If you don’t want to pay over the odds for the latest trend, then you could always opt for more traditional gifts this year. Classic traditional toys such as Lego, Monopoly, Scrabble and Hornby Dublo train sets are classics with good reason. They are always a welcome addition to any child’s toy collection and they will probably still be in use and giving pleasure long after this year’s craze is history.

Every day I wonder how good I really am at Holdem free online poker tournaments and cash games.
Most of the time I think I play quite well, I know mostly every detail there is to know about poker tournaments and have won plenty of them, but at the end of the day, the only way to know for sure how good I really am, is to take part in as many tournaments I can, and also play as many players as I can.
I think its important to play against new players all of the time. Its all very well playing with people you know, but you will never advance your skill as you know how they play and wont learn anything new.
Its easy to fall into a trap in thinking that everybody plays pretty much the same, but experience has taught me that this is far from the truth.
Fact is that it’s going to cost you some money to learn how to play poker because it’s not the same as watching on television than in real life at a poker table. You might lose a lot until you really know how to play your cards right.
Reading the rule book and tips on how to play poker won’t get you anywhere until the cards are in your hands and only you can tell yourself to fold, call or all-in.
I suggest you go to different online poker tournament sites as well as real casinos around your state or country and test out all the poker tables and see how good you really are.
Start off at lower amount tables so it doesn’t cost you too much if you lose. You will get some bad beats but if you stay focused, you’ll win in the long run if you stick to your game plan.
Bear in mind that when you are playing in a live casino rather than with friends or family, the game play will be very different. There is little conversation in a casino game and it is all taken much more seriously than having fun with people you know.
At casinos people there are out to get all your money no matter how they get it. So you should watch a few minutes but you sit down at a casino table. Once you get a good feel of the game and you feel your skill level is better, then move to a higher limit table.
If you continue with this strategy, you should find yourself making quite a bit of money at the end of the day. If you have never played against people you don’t know, playing free online poker tournaments is a great way to start as you they are free and you wont lose any of your own cash.

The engraved designs of signet rings can be done in the metal band, gems or another type of material. A signet ring represents power and authority in ancient and recent times. Even Prince Charles in modern day Great Britain wears a signet ring of his family crest, as signet rings have their own history in Europe. The royal and noble signet ring started from European countries as a sign of their noble status. These were rather different than the signet rings of the ancient Egyptians which were cylindrical seals. These signet rings were developed from cylindrical seals that hung from their necks or arms.
A man or woman can wear a signet ring. Using different materials such as metal bands in signet rings indicate a persons status in life. Various jewelers sell all types of metals with limitless designs. Precious and non-precious gems and diamonds are popular. They can be worn either at the left or the right hand fingers. Some wear a signet ring on their smallest finger.
Finally, some people choose to wear a signet ring as a token of their love and friendship to each other, with their personalized and own choice of designs represent their love with the art of engraving. Desirable designs are initials, logos, coat of arms, skulls, animals the lion or phoenix, flowers and butterflies etc. The most common precious metals are gold, silver, titanium and platinum. Shapes like ovals, squares or other desired shapes for the engraved design are also popular.
